Inter-Class Softball-Part 2

The Inter-Class Softball finished last two weeks and we had won it. After the game we are so happy because the game only last a couple of minutes and the score is 1:0 for us. In the softball finals our class faced Room 1. Some of the student of other classes are watching them play. It was shocking when it started. The first to bat is the other class, no score. Then it was our turn to bat and still no score. On the second innings the batting team (the other class) still did not score but when we where batting we scored 1 then we got out. On the third inning no one scored and that was how we won the softball.

The coming Inter-Class sport is Soccer. I hope we will win this one too.

Inter-class Softball

Softball is one of not so popular games in New Zealand. Its like baseball but the ball is a lot softer that the baseball. In my school in Te Awamutu we had what you called a Inter-class softball where classes versus each other. When I first landed on New Zealand, I have no idea a lot of sports that they play here and one of the sport I can’t really understand was softball. It is hard to play at the first time but every-time you play it you master it. Still, I’m that very good. my class was competing at the Inter-class softball and we already won 2 games and hoping to win it all. I’m going to update you every week so keep looking on the following 7 weeks.

Which is weaker? a promise or a spider’s web

I think a promise is weaker than a spider’s web. Because a person cannot hold up a promise forever. some force the promise keeper to say it. Although some really keep their promise forever as long as you can think of.

Does
New Zealand Need More Immigrants?

Good ___________ Teachers, Classmates and Guests.  I am __________; I’m an immigrant from the
Philippines.

When we arrived here in
New Zealand about a year ago, I knew that we came here because we need
New Zealand.  The country‘s fresh air and green and clean environment are such big attraction to me.  However, as months passed by, I realize that as we need
New Zealand, it seems that it also needs immigrant as well.  There are so many trees and plants all over the country.  Every single tree releases big volume of oxygen. So, who will manage to inhale them if you are only about 4 million people?  Come on, you need to share that to the rest of the world!  Oops, I’m just joking.

Seriously speaking though, I think
New Zealand still needs more immigrants.   Well at least for two reasons.

The first reason is the shortage for skilled workers.  If you still remember, headline news came out last year about a certain big caravan company that needed to move to
Hamilton to attract workers.  It needs more people because it   has to meet the customers’ big orders.  It could mean two things. Either the demand for caravans here and abroad is growing or very few Kiwis are interested in trade jobs as electrician, welders and mechanics.  Shortage of dairy farm workers is also high.  Considering that milk is the biggest money maker of
New Zealand, it is really alarming if nobody wants to milk the cows.

The other reason is the continuous exodus of Kiwis who are migrating to other country in search for greener pasture.  Just recently, my mom read in the newspaper that even though many migrants are arriving in everyday, it is still quite small compares to the huge numbers of those who are leaving the country.
New Zealand is beautiful, rich and relatively peaceful. Kiwis why are you saying bye bye to it ?  I’m just asking.

I believe the government has program   to motivate the Kiwis to acquire skills that the employers are looking for.  But if the Kiwis will continue to leave its country, then New Zealand‘s need for migrants will never end.
